Prerequisites: Your dog should know sit, down, stay, come and loose leash walking to sign up for this class. Your dog should be able to work around other dogs. Graduation from Focus Foundation or another good obedience class is required (or instructor permission).

This 5-week class is held indoors.

You’ve discovered how much fun it is to train and work with your dog, and you want to keep going. Whether you want to strengthen what you’ve learned, or maybe you just enjoy the interaction with your dog, taking the next level class is a great idea!

Obedience is the key to unlocking your dog’s potential by establishing a line of communication between you and your pet. As that line of communication grows, you will develop a better understanding of your dog, as he will you. Obedience also gives your dog more confidence and allows him to learn faster.

It's important to keep training your dog. If you don't continue training, more than likely your dog will regress and you might be back to square one

This class is recommended for graduates of Focus Foundation. We will advance your dog’s level of training by strengthening what your dog learned at the basic level and adding new exercises. We will also cover many of the exercises to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. We will teach new skills such as heel, front, and go to mat. We will teach wait politely at the door before exiting. The recall from a stay will be practiced. Major distractions will be added as each dog demonstrates readiness. This class is for dogs that get along well with other dogs and people as we will be doing more off-leash work in this class. The goal of the obedience program is for the handler to have control of his or her dog whether on or off leash.
